Why do we accept the Bible as the Word of God? Perhaps it is because our parents and grandparents accepted it thus and subsequently we were taught as a child to also accept it as God’s Word. That, in a nutshell, is probably why most of the people in the world accept any document or book as inspired, because of their traditions, but how can we really know it is the inspired word of God, how can we really prove the accuracy of the bible?

I accepted the bible as the inspired Word of God on spec when I was younger primarily because of the above reasons. After awhile I rejected the bible as inspired and then spent several decades demeaning and degrading the Christian God and anything related to Him, including the bible. However, after experiencing some frightening spiritual events, I reassessed my views on religion and ended up coming full circle back to where I started, viewing the Word of Our Lord with new eyes and a new intent and I soon became interested in proving the veracity of the scriptures to myself, as well as to others.

There are probably dozens of ways you can prove that the bible is inspired. For me, one place to start is the fact that Christ and the apostles quote from many of the books of the Old Testament and what they are quoting is what we are reading when we refer to those passages. This is proof that the books of the old covenant and the books of the new covenant are intrinsically linked, and all a part of the canon. Critics of the scriptures have attempted to disprove the bible using the lack of historical evidence found of the names and nations and events that the bible mentions, but in recent decades more evidence has arisen that does nothing but support the historical accuracy of the scriptures.

There have been many different methods and ways of producing evidence in support of the supernatural inspiration of the Holy Word, but the one that seems most interesting to me are the hidden codes throughout the scriptures. Some of the most technical codes that can be found beneath the surface of this holy tome are mathematical and one form of this mathematical coding is the heptatic structure built throughout the bible. Heptatic simply means relating to the number seven through the Greek root of hept1. There are overt and covert heptatic structures and codes rippling within the bible relating to the number seven that are staggering in their depth and complexity. These structures occur in over 600 passages throughout the scriptures, appearing in both the old and the new testaments.

A Russian born mathematician named Ivan Panin2 really brought to light the numerical patterns and structures of the bible. While the numerical structures within chapters and books of the scriptures may be possible to be replicated by man, what we find are sevenfold structures that spread across the spectrum of the scriptures. If you recall, the bible we hold in our hands was written by forty individuals, many with various backgrounds, over a 1600 year period in three different languages, yet they all write with a single commonality…all claiming to be inspired by the One True God. Even though the scriptures were written across the span of 16 centuries, there is a heptatic structure that is woven throughout the scriptures, with many spanning the entire bible to form a complete structure.

Mark 16:9-20 has been panned by many critic as not being inspired, as having probably been written in the second century AD. However, there is a discovery hiding under the upper layer of text. It has been revealed that these passages have a wonderful heptatic structure that was discovered by Ivan Panin and published in a book over a hundred years ago. Mark 16:9-20 has an out-of-this-world, supernatural structure built around the number seven (heptatic) and he proves that the probability of one guy (or even many, many people) coming up with these structures within the text, without divine guidance, puts it into the stupidly absurd probability range. This is only one example of one passage and the bible is full of them (the heptatic structure hidden within the genealogy of Christ in the book of Matthew is just as mind-boggling, if not more so)3. Ivan Panin spent almost fifty years identifying theses structures and codes and apparently he started his search because of his love of numbers or, who knows, maybe someone challenged him for he began his numerical trek through the scriptures as a non-believer but ended up as a christian and a champion of the faith in his own arena of science. We have to severely be in denial to reject and ignore these patterns and from just this evidence alone, to reject the bible as supernatural.

The heptatic structure is only one way the bible has be authenticated. There are many other ways that The Lord has authenticated His Word but I chose to focus only on this one and it alone should be enough to prove the authenticity of the scripture to all of us…but it’s not. I love this kind of stuff but it bores my wife to tears. Therefore, the evidence of the mathematical tapestry of the scriptures can only be enjoyed, and thus only be accepted by people interested in this technical hoodoo. The Lord anticipated this, of course, and there are many, many other ways that the veracity and authenticity of the scripture has been proven.

Not only is the bible designed to be read and understood by anyone, God told us in Proverbs that He has hidden little secret gems here and there for those who like to dig for them the excavate hidden truths and facts that do nothing but prove more and more the bible is the unalterable Word of Our Lord. Many, many truths have been found, but I believe many more are in there waiting to be discovered and I get like a kid in a candy store sometimes when I think I have found a hidden link to something elsewhere in the scriptures. So grab your shovel and lets get digging.

Proverbs 25:2[It is] the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings [is] to search out a matter. (KJV)

How many ways have Satan tried to thwart the plan of God?

If we stop and think about the question, we realize that the bible from the opening passages to the closing passages deal with Satan’s attempts to screw up God’s plan that he has laid out in advance, and it is The Great Deceiver’s intention to prove that he is as great and as powerful as The Lord, as we read in Isaiah 14:12-14 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! [how] art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. (KJV). We could probably spend years listing all the events through history that has Satan’s signature and seal stamped on them. I have just covered a couple of seemingly obvious one to me.

There have been several ways that Satan has tried to thwart the plan of God throughout history, but what immediately came to mind when I thought about this subject was one way that Satan has tried to thwart the plan of God that is still continuing to this day. The way I am referring to is to sow derision, doubt and conflict within the Body of Christ.

All the different groups within the religious body called Christianity, for the most part, are separated by seemingly insignificant differences. These differences can find their beginnings in the first years of The Way*1, as the group of people that followed the teachings of The Christ were called in the book of Acts. Satan was able to insert false prophets and sow doubt and deception within the Christian movement almost from the beginning. Small, subtle changes here and there, a doubt about the real meaning behind this passage or that passage and Satan’s ability to convince scholars and teachers that taking passages out of context is OK all resulted in the beginnings of the division of the Body of Christ. He was also very successful in his campaign to deceive the early church fathers into questioning the meaning of the scriptures, which allowed them to start creating their own interpretations of the Word, which resulted in a more palatable form of religion for the Holy Roman Empire. The disgust with the end product of the religious/political superpower that it morphed into resulted in the reformation movement*2. Part of the problem that the reformation movement left us with is many of the reformed protestant religious entities that formed didn’t take the reformation far enough, which has resulted in many of our ‘siblings’ in the Body of Christ still firmly believe in allegorizing the scripture, just as they did in the fourth century to make the lessons and commandments of the Word of Our Lord easier to accept and therefore a little less rigid, and a lot less ‘black and white’. Therefore many of our brethren teach traditional interpretation of the word instead of what the scripture really says. To do this effectively, they have to do several things.

First, the fact that the holy scriptures from Genesis to Revelation is a single, cohesive message system with a beautiful woven tapestry of meaning and purpose about God, his peoples and his Son has to be ignored and tossed out the window is the first and most important thing that must be done. Once this is accomplished, the rest becomes easy. After they destroy the cohesiveness of Our Lords message, it becomes easier to take and chop the word of Our Lord up into individual sections that don’t relate to each other significantly or not at all to be able to build the traditions and religious philosophy the the church has replaced Israel as God’s chosen people. This mindset and philosophy is referred to as replacement theology*3 and too many of our brethren teach this doctrine weekly from their pulpits as gospel.

Looking at this particular religious philosophy from a microscopic perspective, or even a planar perspective, it may seem to pass muster, but if you back up and get above it look at it from a distance you can clearly see that they have taken the flowing structure of the Word and chopped and cut and ripped the beautiful tapestry of the scriptures into pieces and then in an attempt to try and justify their view they have taken the portions and blindly reassemble them into some sort of ugly jigsaw puzzle that they have hammered and taped back together into an non-fitting picture that more resembles a Jackson Pollack painting than a smooth flowing message system that easily fits and continues from end to end, the way the Holy Spirit wrote it and the way the Creator of All Things intended. By doing this, these unknowing minions of Satan have created great tears and gaps in the message of Our Lord that keep getting larger over time. These chasms that they have opened up allow false teachings, ideas and deceptions to enter into the scriptures and drive ever-widening wedges between those different groups that cling onto their own particular ideas or viewpoints that has been torn from the flowing structure of the Word. This could be compared to wounds in our skin that allows harmful germs and bacteria which can cause great harm if left open and untreated. We as the Body of Christ are much like extremely dysfunctional siblings that are constantly fighting and squabbling over minor issues and irrelevant things that, for the most part, have been caused by the attempts to destroy the intricate tapestry of the scriptures, to the point that most of our energies are absorbed in this in-fighting instead of taking the Word to the lost of the world. This has to be one of Satan’s more successful campaigns in his plan to thwart the plan of Our Lord.

While I was proofing what I had written above, another thought struck me. Another one of Satan’s great successes in his attempt to thwart the plan of God was his successful ability to control and deceive the Jewish leadership throughout the period of the Old Testament by causing them to doubt and ignore part of their own Torah through the lack of diligence in following the commandments of the Lord to read the Torah at certain times of the year while examining other parts of the Torah through a microscope (sound familiar?). This is easily inferred as we read the historical records of Israel and the prophets. I’m sure Satan went to far greater lengths than that, probably through deception and centuries of whispering in their ears to create doubt that God really doesn’t mean this and that. Satan really did some impressive work here; the leadership completely ignored Daniel chapter nine as if it never existed, because it told them precisely what day to expect the Messiah’s entry into Jerusalem and on the day that Gabriel gave to Daniel five hundred years earlier for all to see and hear, instead of welcoming their king, they grabbed him and treated him as a heretic and a criminal.

I’m going to digress here for a moment for I think the link between Daniel and the birth of The Christ is extremely cool and it could possibly be a link that Satan missed. As a child, knowing the story of Christ’s birth, I always wondered who these guys called the Magi were. All anyone could say was they were wise men from the east. Historical research indicates that the Magi were members of the Medeo-Persian Priesthood*4 and we find that Daniel*5 was chief of the Magi according to Daniel chapter 4. Daniel 4:9 “Belteshazzar*5, chief of the magicians, because I know that the Spirit of the Holy God [is] in you, and no secret troubles you, explain to me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and its interpretation. (NKJV) This scripture tells us Daniel held this office over these magicians and this is an indicator that creates a link to the appearance of the Magi in the gospels and apparently it is one of those events where the bible implies a Messianic prophecy that didn’t make it out of the Holy Spirit’s editing room for us to read, though Daniel seemingly knew the specifics of it and it seems he taught his dedicated followers to pass on this prophecy down through the centuries to their successors*6. So what happens? The fact that five hundred years later this imposing procession of important foreigners suddenly shows up at Herod’s doorstep in Jerusalem looking for the new born king of God’s chosen people, means they had to be there following some precise instructions, and the fact they were descendants of the Magi priesthood that was under the leadership of Daniel the prophet several centuries earlier says linkage to me. Where am I going with this? My personal opinion is that Satan read the Holy Word and knows every prophecy, every covenant, every commandment and every screw-up of the Israelites in there. My thought is that this prophecy that guided Daniel to instruct the Magi to pass the prophecy down through their ranks from generation to generation was missed by Satan, causing him to ignore these pagan priests that are conveying the message of the expectation of a Jewish Messiah appearing under certain miraculous conditions to their following successions of priests. OK, if that’s true, why was it left out? We could throw out conjectures all day, but I believe this visit by the Magi gives us an indication, on a much smaller scale, of what celebrations should have been taking place in Israel if the Jews had known to look for the Messiah, is one possibility. Another possibility is their visit was an end-run around Satan’s deception campaign, which in part, was designed to prevent such an announcement to be heralded, but the Magi succeeded at announcing to the Jewish leadership that the Messiah and king was among them. Or maybe it’s a combination of the two thoughts. Regardless whatever could have happened, the Jewish leadership were, once again, asleep at the wheel and ignored this event, which is only one of the most important events this creation has ever witnessed.

Because Christ as the Messiah was rejected by the nation of Israel, The Lord turned his back on them as prophesied throughout the Torah, (though Hosea’s prophecies about these events are my favorite) which resulted in the catastrophe in 70 AD and the diaspora*7 of the Jews.

I have a non-traditional view of the scripture and in my mind’s eye, I see God discussing with the others in the Trinity over steaming cups of nectar, his script for our universe before zapping us into existence. We all know what happened…Satan immediately threw a wrench into the works, causing the Lord to rewrite the script of our complicated sim game*8, so to speak. I look for patterns and, I guess conspiracies and one pattern that I see is; after the Jews turned chicken and refused to invade Canaan the first time, The Lord sent them wandering for thirty eight years before they were allowed to occupy the land. Fast-forward several hundred years and we have the Jewish nation reject God again by rejecting His Son. Thirty eight years later, the Romans destroyed the temple and massacred over a million Jews in the process of the siege and occupation of Jerusalem. I can’t help but wonder if this was simply a modified script from the original one, one where possibly the Jews accepted him and thirty eight years later, the chosen people, with Christ as their King, started the rule of the earth from Zion. Just as they had captured and occupied the promised land so many years ago.

In hindsight, we can look back and think, “what dorks, these guys had these prophecies about the Messiah, mainly the one from Daniel chapter nine, right there in front of them and they ignored it and see what it got them.”. Before we get all holier-than-thou, we need to look at ourselves. Heck, forget religion, here in America, our leaders ignore and reject our own constitution, they reject moral judgments and teachings, much less the teaching of the scriptures and we’ve only had a couple hundred years to do it in. At least Israel seemed to hold it together longer than that.

A Scoop of Bittersweet?

Posted: July 18, 2011 in Christian

In my mind’s eye, I see us and our universe as a scoop of ice cream taken from the tub of the real existence…the actual reality we call heaven and the spirit world. We can infer from Genesis that we started out as, maybe, a scoop of peaches and cream but since Satan was allowed to sow his bacteria of doubt and deception about the purpose, meaning and plan of Our Lord into our ‘ local reality’ we have instead turned a sweet scoop into a harsh lump of rocky road ice cream with bitter, foul tasting coal dust spattered about within the scoop instead. So, at the time that The Lord decides to ‘taste’ us will we be sweet in his mouth, or will he spit us out as something bitter?

More on this later.

I am a detail oriented person and I discover the more details I can work out, the more I understand the text. I have always believed that the scripture means what it says, and says what it means, but Proverbs also teaches God hides jewels within the text for us to search out and discover.

Proverbs 25:2 [It is] the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings [is] to search out a matter. (KJV)

The following topic is one of those personal discoveries of mine that I believe will support further research. This type of subject, basically bores my wife to tears, but I find it fascinating.

Why did Assyria repent when Jonah told them they had 40 days?

One of my favorite prophets is Jonah. I wrote a synopsis of the book previously and something that has been in the back of my mind since I wrote it is this. Why did these Assyrians that worshiped different deities, primarily a fish god, so completely and so swiftly, turn from their normal practices and suddenly fear a foreign God to the point they even dressed their farm animals in sackcloth and ashes to make sure they were covering all bases in showing their abject remorse for sinning and offending this other god. Why did Assyiria, as a gentile nation that had attacked and dominated the whole region, including Israel, for decades, fall before the mercy of The Lord when a sullen Jew suddenly comes storming through Nineveh spewing a message of destruction in forty day unless they repent and show remorse? I think I have the answer.

I have been listening to a verse by verse commentary on the books of I & II Kings by Chuck Missler of K House, and I started thinking about some of the events surrounding the Northern Kingdom of Israel and some the different times that the Northern Kingdom of Israel was threatened or attacked and how that their obstinance, ingratitude and unfaithfulness toward The Lord led to their eventual domination by the Kingdom of Assyria. For example, one of the neighbors of Israel was Syria. In I Kings chapter twenty, the King of Syria*1 gathers his superior forces together (along with the forces of thirty two allied kings) to attack Israel which was being ruled by Ahab, one of the most wicked and one of the most pagan oriented kings of Israel that has been recorded. Even though The Lord’s blood pressure skyrocketed, in my mind at least, every time Ahab and his administration sunk to a new low (which was often), The Lord protected Ahab and his people up north until He was ready to punish them. So The Lord sent a prophet to tell Ahab that he would win the day against his adversaries. I’m sure King Ahab was stunned at this grace of The Lord, but he did as he was told and they tromped a superior Syrian alliance. The Syrians recognized the victory over their forces was the work of The God of Israel, only they didn’t understand just how powerful he actually is, for in I Kings chapter twenty verse twenty-three they decide it was just a tactical disadvantage that caused the route that day.

I Kings 20:23 And the servants of the king of Syria said unto him, Their gods [are] gods of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we; but let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they. (KJV) This seemed to rile The Lord for He basically said, “God of the Hill, huh! I’ll show them a hill or two”, in some following verses.

I Kings 20:26-29 And it came to pass at the return of the year, that Benhadad numbered the Syrians, and went up to Aphek, to fight against Israel. And the children of Israel were numbered, and were all present, and went against them: and the children of Israel pitched before them like two little flocks of kids; but the Syrians filled the country. And there came a man of God, and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the LORD, Because the Syrians have said, The LORD [is] God of the hills, but he [is] not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I [am] the LORD. And they pitched one over against the other seven days. And [so] it was, that in the seventh day the battle was joined: and the children of Israel slew of the Syrians an hundred thousand footmen in one day. (KJV) After that, the king of Syria put on sackcloth and fell on the mercy of Ahab and the formed a treaty which lasted for several years. So here we see the beginning of understanding of the neighboring gentile nations of the power of The God of Israel. The people of the region may have heard and possibly remembered the legends of the exploits of God in bringing the nation of Israel out of Egypt, but that would have been almost five hundred years in the past and would have been just that, legends.

These military successes by God struck a note in the mind of the Syrians, for in II Kings chapter five we find the story of the Commander-In-Chief of the Syrian army, Naaman who was afflicted with some form of leprosy, which reigned as one of the most feared diseases throughout the ages. Naaman finds out about a prophet of God named Elisha and ends up traveling to see Elisha to request he ask The Lord of Israel to heal him, which demonstrates the belief of the power of Our Lord, even among the gentile nations. In II Kings chapter six, once again we find a King of Syria who didn’t do his homework, attacking the Northern Kingdom of Israel, and once again, the king of Syria finds his forces dominated, though they were more humiliated, rather than defeated this time by The Lord which reinforced the exclusive dominance of The Lord of Israel over whoever chooses to go against Him. All these events would not only have been recorded in the royal chronicles and annuls but would have spread by word of mouth from household to household in every country within the region .

Following all this, we see rising on the horizon, the Empire of Assyria which first overruns Damascus, then they attack Samaria, the capital of Israel and creates a vassal state out of the nation of Israel. Because Assyria had control over all the nations of the region, they had access to all the significant documents of the different kingdoms and therefore they would have seen the records of repetitive miraculous victories by an inferior force over substantially superior forces which would have been attributed to The Lord God of Israel*2 and how He showed his might over all the other gods. This, I’m sure, would have stayed with the Assyrians and would help explain why they repented on spec when Jonah went rushing in with his prophecy of doom.

*1  Not be confused with Assyria…Syria was a country to the north-east that occupied a portion of the land in present-day Syria and Damascus was it’s capital. Assyria was even further away to the northeast in present-day Iraq and it’s capital was Nineveh.

*2  All nations relied heavily on their gods and whenever there was a totally lopsided victory, eventually they would understand that The God of Israel was behind it and was more powerful than their deities, therefore they would give him deference. God seemed to make a believer out of everyone in the region except for the Nation of Israel, which is just bizarre in my mind.

I would guess that 98 percent of the casual perusers of the bible that stumbled across this topic would either dismiss it as a misprint or possibly do a double-take with cartoon question marks popping over their heads. The 2 percent of weirdo students of the scriptures that enjoy searching out details within, or about, the scriptures however might be interested in this pagan, Roman temple and it’s significance to Israel.

Lets delve into a little history…in 70 A.D Jerusalem was razed and Herod’s Temple*1 destroyed after a seven month siege by Roman General Titus and 1.1 million Jews were killed during the conflict according to Jewish historian Flavius Josephus. Jerusalem remained in ruins until Roman Emperor Hadrian visited the site and decided to build a city upon the ruins of the former Capital of Judah in 130 A.D. After his visit, Hadrian decided to name the new city Aelia Capitolina*2 probably on advice from his advisers, and chose to make it a location to house some of his Legionnaires. This, for some strange reason, seemed to enrage the Jewish population and a Jewish revolt ensued against their Roman masters*3. After the Romans quashed this revolt Hadrian decided to erase this thorn in his side called Judaism from the province of Judah once and for all. He had it renamed Syria Palaestina*4, and Jews were banned from entering the city of Aelia Capitolina, on pain of death. Hadrian’s new plans for the city included temples to the major regional deities, and certain Roman gods, in particular Jupiter Capitolinus, to whom a temple was built on the site of the former Jewish Temple atop the Temple Mount. The Temple and city lost significance over time and by 333 A.D., it was described as a ‘refuse heap’*5. Attempts to rebuild the Temple on the Temple Mound after Constantine became Emperor went nowhere and in 638 A.D., the Muslim conquest of Jerusalem was complete. Had enough history? No, no, no, you’re not getting off that easy.

What about a pagan temple in Baalbek? Other than having some ultra cool ruins, why do we care about this area named after worship to the planet Mars? The focus of our interest in this region rests on some huge blocks and columns that make up the Temple of Jupiter. In approximately 60 A.D (this date squirrels about, depending what site you research) Roman Emperor Augustus decided to commission a temple to be built in what is now known as Baalbek, Lebanon. This famous archaeological site has been painstakingly researched, cataloged and photographed by historians, archaeologists, scientists and nut-jobs (there are some strange websites relating to this area) for decades. One of the better known remains discovered in the area is the Temple to Jupiter. What is significant about these ruins is that the architect that oversaw this temple construction in Baalbek, Lebanon is the same guy that also directed the construction of the Temple to Jupiter Capitolinus in Aelia Capitolina, Judea, AKA Jerusalem!

Fine, OK! The purpose and significance of all this ballyhoo and history lesson is that a new Temple to God (Daniel 9 and Revelation 11) will be built in Jerusalem in the future and there are three main conjectures about where it will be in relation to the Temple Mount. Until a few years ago there were only two main conjectures that differed in direction and elevation about the location and positioning of Herod’s Temple before it was destroyed until a Jewish historian and architect named Tuvia Sagiv dropped on the scene with a radical new idea. “I have an idea, let’s see if we can find the plans to the Roman Temple to Jupiter and using aerial photography, position them over the Temple Mount and see if they fit!” he said…(OK, so maybe he didn’t say it, but that’s what I would have said). The Temple Location Club (or whatever they call themselves…they have to have a club or something, right?), probably thought he was crazy…until they found out that he figured out that the same guy that designed this magnificent structure in Baalbek that tourists have been flocking to for years and has been staring us in the face since the time of Christ, designed the Temple to Jupiter Capitolinus in Jerusalem (Aelia Capitolina), and that they have the same basic architecture. We also know from historical records (the Romans kept meticulous records) that Hadrian had a statue of himself on horseback erected on the Temple Mount in front of the Temple. So, when they take plans from the Temple of Jupiter at Baalbek (which conveniently has a statue of a guy on a horse in front of the temple) and overlay the Temple Mount they discover it works with most of the Temple proper to the south of the Dome of the Rock. Now all they have to do is figure out a way to kick the Muslims out of Jerusalem so they can do some proper research, excavations, etc and start building the Temple.

Will Israel’s Temple be built within our lifetimes? Who knows. I know the nation of Israel is training temple priests and preparing the accouterments for it. I also know that it will be built sometime in the near future because God said it will. When is a matter of time and our support of Israel is really the only reason we care, because we will be out of here by the Time of Jacob’s Troubles start and the Temple takes on the prophetic significance that will sorely surprise the scoffers and prove, once again, the accuracy of the text.
